terrorists kidnap g.i. joe doll

When I got home from work this evening, I turned on CNN’s Headline News to learn that an American soldier had been kidnapped in Iraq. “Damn,” I thought. “Even after the elections showed these terrorists to be weak, they continue with these tactics anyway.”

I remember thinking when they showed the photo (original is on the left), “Hey, that looks really weird.”

I didn’t expect that in addition to being weak that these terrorists were also stupid. It turns out, as Fox News has reported (among many others) the similarity between the “soldier” and a GI doll. The clothing that the “soldier” is wearing clearly does not match any standard-issue GI clothing, as anyone who follows the news everyday would notice.

Here’s a roundup of the many hilarious posts on this topic from around the blogs:

This is another example of why I think blogs are an excellent addition to more traditional media coverage (besides the fact that the traditional media are incompetent and/or heavily biased) — this is a story which broke right around the time the last bell rang at ULHS, and it was debunked before I got home at 17:30.
